Day 1
Arrive to Lusaka from Dubai at 14-35, Meet with our guide and transfer to Kariba border with Zimbabwe (approximately 2 hours), Admire 128 meters high Kariba Dam Wall built in 1960. Border formalities and transfer to Nornbill Lodge (just 10 minutes drive the Kariba border post. Overnight: Hornbill Lodge (HB)
Day 2
We will collect you on the morning of your safari at 08-00 hrs, in time for a check-in at the office of Canoe Company to hand in extra luggage and valuables. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PASSPORT ON THE RIVER WITH YOU! After having coffee and tea, meeting your guides and briefing, your safari will depart at 09-00 hrs for shopping, to purchase any extra drinks for your trip, before setting off for the river and the start of the canoe safari. Please note that credit cards are not a recommended payment option in Zimbabwe. Transfers are by open 4×4 vehicles to Chirundu (approximately 2,5 hours), arriving at approximately 12-00 hrs at which time the canoes and kit will be unloaded. Following a safety talk and demonstration of how to paddle a canoe at around 12-30 hrs packed lunch will be served to you before your depart by canoes. At approximately 17-00 hrs you will set up camp on an island named Kakomarara, there is time to relax and have dinner after a brief safety talk on camping. Day 3
Your group will be woken up at sunrise for tea, coffee and biscuits before paddling for a couple of hours to the breakfast stop. At approximately 09-30 hrs canoeing will resume until midday and a well earned lunch & siesta, time to catch up on reference books until mid afternoon (depending on the weather). Canoeing continues from 15-00 hrs until approximately 17-00 hrs. Overnight: Camping on Lone Acacia Island (FB)
Day 4
After early breakfast at approximately 07-00 hrs canoeing will resume after packing up the camp at approximately 08-00 hrs until 11-00 and a well earned lunch & siesta and then continue paddling from 15-00 (depending on the weather). Canoeing continues until approximately 17-00 hrs. Overnight: Camping on Vumbu Island or Trichelia Island (FB)
Day 5
This morning is a more leisurely wake up and then after tea, coffee, biscuits and breakfast, camp is broken and you will set off at approximately 09-00 hrs. The group arrives at Mana Pools at 10-30 / 11-00 hrs where the canoes and equipment are loaded on to the vehicles for the return trip to Kariba. Arrival time in Kariba is approximately 14-00 hrs. Check in to the Hotel. Afternoon at leasure. Overnight: Caribbea Bay Hotel (HB)
Day 6
At leasure at Lake Kariba, relax at the pool or have a sunbath. Optional Tiger fishing on a Lake Kariba or Sunset cruise. Overnight: Caribbea Bay Hotel (HB)
Day 7
Morning at leasure or last morning fishing on Lake Kariba, Late check out from hotel and transfer via Kariba border post to Lusaka for your flight home at 21-35. (As you depart with your memories, we know that this experience will have enriched your life and touched your soul!)
